will you come for tea?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea." - Henry James, The Portrait of a Lady

Somehow, tea soothes me. Sitting down with a steaming cup of tea is a daily exercise in my home. Perhaps, it is in yours too.

All over the world people are drinking tea together. An elderly woman is pouring two cups, one for herself and one for her sister, talking and laughing over their teacups for the past fifty years. A woman is carrying a tray over to her grieving friend, as they share their sorrow over tea and tears. A little girl is pouring her teddy bears tea, chatting about her day to her stuffed animals as her mother listens from the next room.

There are entire rooms dedicated to teas, entire parties thrown in the name of tea. There is literally an entire culture surrounding tea.

I hope you'll pull up a chair, tea cup (or whatever your favourite drink is) in hand, and stay awhile. When we sit down for tea together, I hope that we can share our hearts with one another. I want to hear from you, to know your thoughts and opinions. I hope that we can laugh and talk about light-hearted things like our favourite homemade meals, the best organization tips, and what funny thing our children did yesterday. Somedays, perhaps we'll get serious, and maybe even shed a tear or two.
I pray that you'll find a place of rest on this space of mine, a place to stop and soothe your soul for a few moments before the next rush of your day.

"come along inside, we'll see if tea and buns can make the world a better place." - The Wind and the Willows
